Associate Professor of Government and Politics

Eric McGlinchey is Associate Professor of Politics and Director of the International Relations Policy Task Force at the Schar School of Policy and Government. He is the author of Chaos, Violence, Dynasty: Politics and Islam in Central Asia (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2011) and, in addition to his academic publications, he has offered commentary for the New York Times, the Washington Post, PONARS Eurasia, and CBC/Radio-Canada. McGlinchey’s current book project, Hegemonic Ideas After Hegemony, explores US efforts to advance democracy, promote human rights, counter violent extremism, and safeguard state sovereignty and the mixed reception these efforts have received in Central Asia.
